LONTANO TRIO

Established in 2019, the Lontano Trio—comprising saxophones, accordion, and double bass—has swiftly distinguished itself within the contemporary music landscape. Known for their distinctive instrumentation and forward-thinking repertoire, they have collaborated with composers like Paulo Jorge Ferreira, premiering new works that challenge the boundaries of chamber music. 

The trio's accolades include consecutive second-place finishes at the FoleFest competition, and their performances have graced prestigious venues such as Casa da Música and the National Museum of Ancient Art. 

With a program that seamlessly blends classical, contemporary, and avant-garde elements, the Lontano Trio is redefining the possibilities of chamber music performance. 

In 2026, the trio will present a concert dedicated to the artist Manuel Cargaleiro, with five comissioned pieces in Portugal and abroad.
